Drive Replacement - Saturday 19/12/2015 (Resolved)
  • Priority - Low
  • Dear Customer,

Due to a failed drive and another giving poor performance we'll be taking one of our Cloud servers fully offline on Saturday evening.

We will hot-migrate all Linux machines and cold-migrate Windows machines running on this server prior to any action being taken so no downtime is expected.

During this time our Cloud service will run with reduced redundancy until we restore the physical server after installing replacement drives. No downtime is expected.

    Kind Regards,
    Real Hosts Limited

cPanel & DirectAdmin Server Upgrades (Resolved)
  • Priority - Medium
  • Affecting Server - cpanel1
  • Some accounts on our cPanel server were very large and took some time to restore. Everything should now be back online.

We are now restoring accounts, everything should be back online within the next hour.

Backups are now complete. We are currently installing cPanel on the new machine which is taking some time.

We are now taking full backups of all accounts.

The following work is now under way. We have stopped all services to keep data consistent.

    Dear Customer,

Both our cPanel and DirectAdmin hosting servers have been running for several years, while the hardware on both machines has been upgraded numerous times with each now running within our Cloud infrastructure, the Operating Systems has not been updated for some time and are still running CentOS 5. We’ll be upgrading to CentOS 6 as well as updating the Apache, MySQL and PHP packages to more recent versions.

At approximately 22:00 GMT on Friday, we’ll be stopping all services on these servers and then taking a full backup of all customer accounts (your data). Once complete the servers will be shutdown and new servers provisioned and the relevant control panels installed. We’ll then import the backups and restore all accounts and data. This process should take no longer than 2-3 hours from start to completion.

No action will be required by yourself, all IP Addresses will remain the same.

Should we need to abort the upgrade due to unforeseen issues, we’ll be able to very quickly restart the servers as they stood before we started as the new servers will be setup on different disks.

If you have any questions regarding this please open a support ticket.

    Kind Regards,

    Real Hosts Limited

Cloud Servers - Slow Performance (Resolved)
  • Priority - Medium
  • We have identified some performance issues on one of our physical cloud servers, this appears to be caused by an SSD suddenly giving very poor performance.

In order to mitigate the issue we have migrated all Virtual Machines running on this physical server to others and will be taking the server offline later this evening to perform tests. All Virtual Machines should now be running at near normal speeds and no outages or downtime should be expected.

We have now taken all running machines off this server which has restored full performance. We'll schedule a drive replacement in the next 48 hours.
